Kobe...oops a tad boring

>> Monday, October 1, 2007

I am back in Japan again. This is my third trip though first to Kobe. The last trips were mainly in Osaka, Tokyo and also Kyoto. So I am kinda looking forward to it too. But this will be purely a business trip as I don't plan to travel, just touch and go. I will see what I can see.

The good thing about business trip to Japan is I get to be on Business Class. Nothing to shout about but at least I get to eat satay! :)

I arrived in Kobe and realised it is rather a small city versus Osaka or even Kyoto I think. I managed to go around central town (Sannomiya / Motomachi) for 2 days. First day on my own, kinda just wondering around the different shops for 1/2day. Wanted dinner in a proper restaurant but criteria was that I could order in English. Since I am not on tourisy mood, I was just too lazy to try to converse with the Japs. So I found this restaurant with an African American doorman who persuaded me to try..it was kinda of a bar restaurant. I tried a beef stick which was kinda a rubbery piece of meat. Sad!

The next day my collegue Lizzie joined me and we went out to visit some European colonial houses. These houses are located on a hill on Kitano and these houses are for public display now, once occupied by traders, hunters or politicians.

After much walking, I was desperate to buy something for hubby. I am not a shopper, don't like it and too practical to be a shopper. So looked around, considered some kinky french maid or Jap student uniform but then decided not to. Instead, found this nice Japanese kimono shop and bought a Yutaka (Japanese Bathrobe) one for myself and one for Jeh. Mine is purple and his is blue.

Kobe Beef! Kobe Beef! Kobe Beef! Now, I am not leaving Kobe until I try the all most, much talked about Kobe beef. Thank goodness for Daya (who works in the Kobe office), he took me and Lizzie out this nice Jap restaurant for Kobe beef. Obviously he did all the talking. Hmmm, of course it was good, really tender and soft but definitely expensive of course. One thing about Japan, it is a cash country. The meal cost over Y165,000 (around RM500) and they only accept cash. Poor Daya had to lent me some money first :)

I got to eat more Kobe beef the next day during the dinner hosted by Japanese media team. Yum! This is how it looks like before it is cooked. Can you feel the little cow being massaged?

Alright...........what else of Kobe to remember? Errr nothing much really. :(

Oh yeah.....question in my mind? Why does the Jap school girls wear such short skirts as uniforms? Do the schools not know that these mini skirts on young innocent school girls are now subject of male fantasy ? Well...I really could not figure it out!

But seriously, I rather leave Japan with memories of this cute Japanese boy playing with his puppy. So cute and innocent..
