What Have I Been Doing? Part 1

>> Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Ok enough of the questions....Where have I Been? What I am Doing??
Its been 6 weeks since I landed myself in this land of dreams...United States of America. Leaving behind family and friends and importantly Malaysia - the country that I grew up in. But I was excited as this is the opportunity for me to start my life as wife to my hubby. We have been leaving apart since we met and married.

The big question that my friends and collegues kept asking me before I left is "What am I going to do?" Honestly, I was just so swarmed with work, handovers, family gatherings, taking my hubby here and there (my hubby came back to Malaysia for 2 weeks), friends gatherings etc that I really did not think at all what I was going to do. All I know is that I want to get home to Dallas and relax.

Well, relax I did and I could not believe that 6 weeks have passed and I am still relaxing and enjoying every minute of it. Every time I call back, on emails or msn with family and friends....same question - what have I been doing?

So here I am going to show a sneak peak to my life in Dallas. Believe or not....Part 1 of "What I Have Been Doing? COOKING. Terrible isn't it. Loving every minute of it :)

Her are my Cooking Escapades - don't drool.....
I miss all the Malaysian hawker food so I have to make believe on my own....
Prawn Mee
not bad eh...it does look and taste like the real thing
Wan Tan Mee
- I had to make my own char siu ok!
Min Fun Keuh
- My favourite! I love it!

Bak Kut Teh

- with a little help from the packet of ingredients...it feels and taste like home!

Ok...ok, I do cook normal simple everyday food...showing off my culinary skills to my hubby, I try but I am running out of ideas :)
Stir fry Chives Flower
- this is my hubby's fav vege.

Stir fry french beans with prawns
- This was yummy, I added some dried shrimps

Tau Yu Bak

- This is my mom and grandma's speciality - I grew up eating this!

Lady Fingers (Okra) with Ikan Bilis

- I learned to like this vege thru the years

Sambal Ikan Bilis with Onions

- Ohhh! My favourite - I can't live without it

Lotus Root Soup with Kacang

- The way to a man's heart is thru his stomach with Good soup!

So I did do a little roasting and baking....ha ha....

Roast chicken with potato

- I discovered that roasting is a healthier option so I don't deep fry no more. :)

Blueberry Muffins

- Me bake??? ok it was instant - help from Betty Crocker :)

Ok....are you all drooling yet? Well I was, just by uploading these pictures. I "will be" (I will ok, give me some time!!) updating my blog with these simple recipes, check it out. http://foodmadesimple.blogspot.com/
